Bard Diagnostic Imaging founded this concept in 1989, when a patient in Queensland (Australia) who frequently traveled to NYC on business would see Dr. Bard regularly to monitor his prostate. Dr. Bard would work with the patient's physician in his home town through a secure communications link and private file-sharing portal. Thanks to the advent of portable (and more affordable) traning-friendly ultrasound devices, THE SALSCAN PROGRAM formalized the concept of "Personal Scanning"- allowing the patient direct access to a portable ultrasound and be guided via online video w/ Dr. Bard on the other side, viewing your scans in real-time.

PLAN 2: OVERREADING (D2D) REMOTE FACILITY PARTNERS
Thanks to the advancements of our web-based communication tools, overseas collaboration via electronic FILE-SHARING has been streamlined to empower and facilitate the world of patient care. Due to the CoronaVirus pandemic, many patients are not able to fly or travel to NYC to get scanned in Dr. Bard's main facility. For those situations, we have an option to partner with an imaging facility near the patient who carries similar technologies and trained imaging technicians to conduct the Point-of-Care scanning process. Meanwhile, Dr. Bard is the lead reviewer (remote OVERREADER) whereby he has the final analysis on all the scans. This process maintains access to Dr. Bard's care and diagnostic capacity without visiting his office physicially. In this process, Dr. Bard directs the scanning partner about using his specific scanning process (ie. frequency settings, choice of probe(s), the type of devices etc.) ensuring that Dr. Bard gets the images he needs to assess you correctly- from any location.

Virtualization is a perfect marriage between patient care and digital medicine, where DIGITAL ULTRASOUND responds to the future of emergency diagnostics and its ability to respond quickly, safely (radiation free) and is completely non-invasive. For the patient (plan 1) portable models have been designed easy to learn with a remote trainer.
